Clayton Utz is pleased to announce the appointment of one of Australia’s most experienced private equity lawyers, Mark Malinas, to its partnership as Head of Private Equity.
Mr Malinas will join Clayton Utz from Allens, where he is currently a senior partner in the firm’s M&A team.
He is widely recognised as a leading private equity lawyer, with deep expertise in both domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner, Emma Covacevich, said Mr Malinas would bolster the firm’s transactional capabilities.
“Mark brings more than 20 years’ specialist experience in mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, including buyouts and exits,” Ms Covacevich said.
“Alongside that deep private capital and corporate M&A experience, he has also advised extensively on corporate governance, board advisory matters, and securities law.
“He brings expertise across both domestic and cross-border M&A and has strong connections with listed and unlisted companies, as well as financial sponsors.
“At his current firm, he has held several leadership roles, including Co-Head of Private Equity, leading the Melbourne M&A team and has served on the firm’s Board for a decade. He has also been consistently recognised by major international legal directories as a leading practitioner in his field.”
Ms Covacevich added that Mr Malinas’ appointment comes at a time of strong momentum in the private markets.
