Australian mid-tier law firm HopgoodGanim has taken a partner and a senior associate from BigLaw firm Holding Redlich to bolster its IPTC practice.
HopgoodGanim Lawyers has added a new partner to lead its intellectual property, technology and cyber security (IPTC) practice, as well as a senior associate, both from Holding Redlich.
New partner Andrew Hynd brings more than 20 years of experience advising both private sector and government organisations on strategic procurement and transformational technology projects to the firm and has expertise across technology, data and privacy, procurement, and probity.
Hynd has a broad range of experience advising on complex matters relating to privacy compliance and data issues, including data value capture, data breaches, software licensing, support contracts, cloud computing, as well as intellectual property and other regulatory issues.
In addition, senior associate Jean Lukin has also joined from Holding Redlich, bringing with her extensive experience advising government entities on contracting and probity matters related to large commercial projects, complex transactions, and high-value procurements.
This news comes after the firm acquired a team of eight from national BigLaw firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth in February, as well as its merger with Perth-based boutique Butlers Lawyers and Notaries in August last year.
Hynd and Lukin’s government and technology experience will significantly enhance HopgoodGanim’s IPTC expertise and bolster the firms’ sector-focused legal offering, according to managing partner Luke Mountford.
“Andrew Hynd is one of the top IPTC lawyers in Brisbane, and we are thrilled to have him join and lead our practice at HopgoodGanim. His experience supporting major transformational technology projects will provide immense value to our clients, particularly as they continue to adopt more advanced technologies across their organisations,” he said.
“We’re excited to welcome Andrew and Jean, whose combined knowledge of government procurement and commercial transactions perfectly aligns with our firm’s strategic vision, making them a great fit for HopgoodGanim. Their expertise will help us to deliver even greater outcomes to clients in the technology and digital economy, and government sectors.”
